            The Beijing Institute of Technology attracts international attention.


The Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is a public university with a traditional focus on science and technology but its also developing into other areas such as management and humanities. The Institute emphasises ethics in scholarship, discovery of truth, and contributions to mankind through profound academic accomplishments. BIT was founded in 1940 in Yan’an, Shaanxi Province and was relocated to Beijing in 1949. The following year, the main campus and the Departments of Maths, Physics and Chemistry of the Institut Franco-Chinois were merged with the institute. 


By taking a global approach to education, BIT has established itself as an internationally reputable and influential institution. Currently, it has established inter-university collaborations with more than 200 renowned universities in 58 countries and regions on six continents. BIT is building an international university, and it has created a global network for exchange and cooperation. With that in mind, the institute regularly hosts award winning international education events, and a great many renowned academics from around the globe have visited BIT. 


The institutes 2016 event calendar has already had many official tours from various countries, and many influential guests and speakers have visited BIT from countries like the UK, Switzerland, Ukraine, Italy, Germany, the US, Canada, Russia and Japan. 


Recently the institute hosted the UK-China workshop on sustainable urban transport energy technologies. This event featured twenty-four young scholars from the UK and China, and it gave them an opportunity to exchange academic research on advanced technologies for energizing sustainable urban transport. The three-day workshop was co-sponsored by the Beijing Institute of Technology, and Queen’s University Belfast, one of the UK's leading research-based universities.
