“Changjiang Scholar” Professor WANG Guoren speaks at Liaoning University
On June 28, Liaoning University's (LNU) College of Information, invited Changjiang Scholar Professor WANG Guoren of the Northeastern University (NEU) to visit LNU and deliver an academic speech about “Large Map Data Management Technology & Map Database Machines”.
The Changjiang (Yangtze River) Scholar award is the highest academic award issued to an individual in higher education by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. This event at LNU was attended by about 130 teachers and students from the college.
Map data is now considered a really hot topic in the research field. Based on the status quo, Prof. WANG introduced a lot of valuable and interesting information about the map data research background, including centralized and distributed map data management technologies, and also map database machines. At the conclusion of his speech, Prof. Wang held a Q&A session with those in attendance, and his clear and precise explanations to questions from the teachers and students alike helped them gain a lot more knowledge about map data and its management.
