CEI is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Austin Friars St. Monica’s School in the UK
China Education International (CEI) recently signed a collaboration agreement with the well known educational establishment, Austin Friars St. Monica’s School which is located in the city of Carlisle in England.
Austin Friars St. Monica’s School is a co-educational independent day school. The Senior School provides secondary education for 350 boys and girls aged 11–18. There are 150 children aged 4–11 in the Junior School and the Nursery has places for 16 children aged 3–4.
Founded by Augustinian friars in 1951, the school belongs to a network of Augustinian schools located around the world though it welcomes pupils of all denominations.
Austin Friars is a also a well known boarding school. It ranks 7th among 3,000 schools in UK. It is the only boarding school which enrolls Chinese students, and is also the only school with a “Teachers’ House, where teachers live and direct students under one roof. In Austin Friars St. Monica, English, French and Spanish are spoken, and students are expected to write their homework from 8 pm to 10 pm with the guidance from their teachers.
After studying at Austin Friars St. Monica’s School, 95% of sixth form students go on to a degree course (14% after a gap year). 5% take courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science, 32% in science and engineering, 32% in humanities and social sciences, 13% in the arts, and 13% in vocational subjects.
