German Chancellor Angela Merkel returned to China this week for a number of important discussions with top Chinese government officials. Chancellor Merkel who has already visited China many times since taking office in 2005, was also presented with a special award from one of China's top education institutes, namely Nanjing University. Nanjing is the capital of east China's Jiangsu Province. Chen Jun, president of Nanjing University, awarded Ms. Merkel with an honorary doctorate.
The Chancellor also visited the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing where she delivered a speech, and also spoke with students at the event.
